Deja Vu
Dec 30th, 2008 |
Domo Arigato, Mr.Roboto, we are back in Japan, also known as the Land of the Rising Sun, or the sun-origin country in Japanese characters. We could not get enough the first time around! Gillian was right on.
We will be here to ring in the New Year! WS is back to eating mass quantities of ramen, and we are still fascinated by their bathrooms. Heated seats in the winter, no joke. I love Japan!!
Special thanks to Luke for all the tips on Japan-we will be going to the ramen museum on Thursday!

Where are you staying while in Japan? You mustn’t have found it too expensive last time to be returning again. I’m very much looking forward to seeing it myself next year.

No, it’s not cheap. But WD luuuvs Japan and I love to eat my way through town so we’ll take the financial hit. You’ll have a blast but plan ahead as Japan is not a wing-it backpacker kind of place.

Hi Gillian! We are in Tokyo, in Shinjuku. There are a few budget hotels around, like the Toyoko Inn, which is still a shocker after $15 rooms in Asia. Ramen shops are nice and cheap, but fruit is out of the budget. We eat alot from the grocery store and 7-11, which is cheap and actually has good stuff.
WS is blaming me for the return to Japan, but it is actually oneworld’s fault, as they canceled a leg of our around the world ticket. And we had to be rerouted through Japan. So I asked if we could stay for a few days. Totally not my fault, it was fate, and I am SO not arguing. And WS is eating, so how can he complain.
Thank you Josette! We promise to be home by next New Year’s, hehe.

hey wanderers,
i hope your enjoying your return to japan. i love the new pics. WS, i was wondering, in the photo of you and WD, i believe thats an oversized bonsai tree. i was hoping you would be able to scrounge up a small sappling for me to send back to the states. you can probably get one out of the gutter from that guys house behind you. i always did want a little bonsai!
i also noticed some japanese flags waving ferociously during those festivals. you may want to make sure WD doesn’t get hit in the forehead with one. if the red mark sticks, her friends may question her true religion when she arrives back home.
anyways……..happy new year from new york!!
