Here are some stupid unrelated observations and rants I’ve had while traveling in Latin America (don’t take any of this too seriously): The queue is a figment of the North American imagination… or perhaps gringos are invisible due to our blinding white skin. I swear I’ve never been in a line that a local hasn’t [...]

Touring archeological sites is one of the high points of travel for us. We come from a very young country and don’t have access to some of the mindblowingly old sites there are to see in other places in the world. The Nazca lines are a very unique site to tour since the only way [...]

South of Lima, Peru is an oasis among the sand dunes. The area is called Huacachina, and it was a playground for the rich in years gone by. Huacachina is a few kilometers away from the main town of Ica, but it feels much further than that. We arrived in Ica after dark with two [...]

Traveling down the coast of Peru, we decided to spend a night in Lima. We were here last year and decided to stay in the hip, trendy, Miraflores area of the city again. Many of the little towns and villages we have stayed in on this journey may have just a couple of restaurants, and [...]

The north of Peru is quite poor and has a reputation as being fairly dangerous. The majority of the world’s population lives in poverty, but it’s the dangerous part that concerns me (although the poverty does too). Our guidebook and the travel boards are filled with warnings of attacks around the tourist sites, and some [...]

There were a few things that remained elusive to us while we were in Ecuador, especially on the last half of our trip. We traveled to the Quilotoa Loop in order to visit Lake Quilotoa. Lake Quilotoa is a lake in the crater of a dormant volcano. I won’t go on about this incident since [...]

Many people are curious how we managed to make this trip a reality. Truthfully, what we are doing is really not that unique. There are some serious risk takers out there that give up their entire lives and set out to travel without looking back. I’m talking about the types that quite their jobs, sell [...]

The Wanderers’ Report It is really hard to believe that we have been traveling for four months now. Four months! In the spirit of Corporate America, who we have escaped (for now), we decided to blog a 120 day report. And if we are lucky enough to still be traveling for another 120 days, we [...]

Aside from a bike rental in Nicaragua, we have yet to do any serious mountain biking on this trip. We ride a lot at home, but it usually is just a leisurely pedal along the beach and through the neighborhood for 10 to 15 miles. Here in Ecuador there are opportunities galore for mountain biking. [...]
